Building Bridges: Finnish Delegation Meets the Capital Region’s Innovation Ecosystem

Finnish business delegation visited Berlin on September 1-2, 2025

Eight delegates from Finland, representing regional business development agencies, education as well as hightech industries, spent two days in the capital region to explore the innovative photonics and microelectronics ecosystem.

The first day started with a visit at Swissbit AG – a European leader in storage & security solutions with deep expertise in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and testing.

Next stop: Technologiepark Adlershof, the innovation hub of the capital region for optics, photonics & high-tech. The delegates were first welcomed by André Dalichau (Wirtschaftsförderung Land Brandenburg GmbH, Enterprise Europe Network Berlin-Brandenburg), who took the lead in organizing the visit, joined by Daniel Rosón Eichelmann (WISTA Management GmbH), Gerrit Roessler (Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH / Photonics Cluster Berlin-Brandenburg) and Dr. Anne Techen (Wirtschaftsförderung Land Brandenbug GmbH/ Photonics Cluster Berlin-Brandenburg). This set the stage for networking and exchange, followed by company visits and meeting local experts from the tech community, including:

  • Sentech | the sensor integrators – specialists in high-precision sensor technology
  • AEMTech – bridging research & industry with advanced microtechnology solutions

The second day was all about getting to know the Finnish ecosystem and extending the overview of the Berlin Brandenburg technology spheres. Excellent research and innovations in photonics packaging, microintegration and sensing was presented by Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM), BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and Leibniz ihp.

Equally impressive were the regional industry players. PacTech, Prignitz Mikrosystemtechnik, and Tresky demonstrated how Brandenburg combines innovation with practical application — from advanced packaging to microsystem and precision assembly solutions.

The delegation trip was rounded off with a visit to Fraunhofer IZM and fascinating insights into the institute's laboratories and research.

This visit was all about strengthening innovation ties between Finland and the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region – collaboration without borders! Thanks at our colleagues from EEN Berlin Brandenburg for organizing this fruitful exchange.
